Research Assistant, Darwin Tree of Life (DToL) - Garfield Weston Foundation
Natural History Museum
Role summary
Support the Darwin Tree of Life project by collecting target insect taxa, identifying UK invertebrates to species level, preparing tissue samples for DNA barcoding and genome sequencing, and curating and recording specimens. You will plan fieldwork, coordinate volunteers and students, and represent the project at natural history society events and workshops. The role calls for an experienced field naturalist with strong insect identification, specimen-handling and data-recording skills, plus the ability to communicate technical methods to non-specialists and work independently in remote locations.
